Mountain hotel
2nd semester
Assignment: draw a hotel with a self determined program on a self determined site near Grefsenkollen
Teachers: Christine Petersen, Espen Vatn, Olav Kristoffersen
Grefsenkollen is a small peak overlooking Oslo. It acts as one of the city’s many popular entrances to its surrounding expanses of forest. On top of the peak rests an exclusive restaurant which serves as a popular destination for Sunday walks.
The project settled on a smaller peak, further below Grefsenkollen, with a tremendous view of the city. In line with the food theme already present on Grefsenkollen, the hotel was imagined as a weekend resort for cooking classes, in collaboration with the existing restaurant.
The building slopes around a small hill and was based on the idea of an atrium with a view, which could also be used for outdoor cooking.
The plan has an upper public section with a cafe and a lower hotel section with a kitchen for class.
